There's no doubt about it: Adriana Balea, full-service stylist for Francesca Salon & Spa in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has been on a roll since 2006 when she walked away as the winner of both the Canadian Contessa 17 Makeover Colourist and North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) 17 Colorist of the Year awards. Strokes of Genius
Sub-hued balayage highlights create a graceful grow-out for fall.
Actress Hayden Panettiere suffers no grow-out angst, thanks to Joico celeb colorist George Papanikolas and crimper Jen Atkins of the Andy LeCompte Salon in West Hollywood, California. "Hayden's hair was over-lightened; I wanted to gradually create a beach-y, sun-kissed look, which goes beautifully with her classic California style," Papanikolas explains. To accomplish this gradual transformation, he began lightly balayaging Panettiere's regrowth, concentrating mostly around her face and highlighting just the tips underneath her layers. "Her natural hair is a level 7," he informs. "I use Joico VeroLight decolorizer to paint the highlights (using an inverted V pattern), and then give her a sparkling finish with Joico VeroChrome clear glaze."
Joyeux Anniversaire, L'Oréal!
L'Oréal's 100th birthday has been filled with a year of celebrations, 100 do-good deeds and the unveiling of new products across the board to commemorate this momentous milestone. The grandiose celebration also represents the summation of 100 years of beauty, innovation and exploration by this remarkable beauty giant-all thanks to French chemist and founder Eugene Schueller, who concocted the company's first permanent hair dye in 1909, and then bicycled from salon to salon to sell his revolutionary wares. "L'Oréal is 100 years old, and so is L'Oréal Professionnel, because the brand was born in coiffure," beams worldwide L'Oréal Professionnel president Nicolas Hieronimus during the official Paris celebration. In honor of this historic occasion, L'Oréal Professionnel is introducing the oil-rich INOA, a new, three-level-lift color line that's touted by this uberhip centenarian as being "the haircolor of the future."
